I ♥ Apple.

Mila, my beloved iPod, died of natural causes last night at around 6:30p. She was a shade over 11 months when her harddrive cruelly failed on her, and rendered her inoperable. I was devastated; there was nothing I could do. Thus, I went through the motions of school today, until I could take Mila to the Apple store and get the problem rectified. Thankfully, the gent who helped me out was able to get me a new iPod, as my warranty hadn't yet expired. I haven't named my new one yet, because I still have to get used to it and its personality. I find that I miss Mila and all the quirks she developed, and her traits that are markedly different from my new 'Pod. For instance, I miss the bright white of Mila's screen when the backlight was turned on, compared to my new iPod's dull blue. I also miss the de-chroming Mila undertook when her finish became soiled with fingerprints. It's things like this that bond an iPod to its owner, and just like losing a friend, losing an iPod is hard to get over.

Mila, this one's for you.

ever have this happen?

I was reading for mass comm today, and I ran my finger through my eyebrow, which I usually do when bored and/or frustrated. Then, I got this massive tickling on my eye lid. "Double ewe tee eff?" I wondered to myself, as I reached up to my brow, and found the offending piece of hair. I then grabbed tight hold of it and plucked it, and I realized it was the LONGEST EYEBROW HAIR IN THE WORLD!!!!! It measures 2 1/2 inches, and I was simultaneously pleased and disgusted.

Ahh, Thursdays.

yet another list of people that annoy me

Chain smokers. "Oh, I smoke, therefore I'm t3h awsome."* OK then. Good luck with that whole dying-at-an-early-age thing.
People who wear camoflauge clothing as part of their day to day attire. Where the fuck do you think you are, the jungle? Take that crap off now.
Korn. Who do think you are to screw up a piece of certifiable classic rock history? Roger Waters = livid.

more to come, I promise.

livin' through the music....

If you're anything like me (and I pray for your sake thay you're not) you have a strong connection to the crap you listen to. Once that happens, you'll start to associate certain songs and albums with certain things. It's the weirdest thing. In the spirit of that, here's a list of stuff and songs/records that remind me of them:

Spring: The Goo Goo Dolls' Dizzy Up the Girl; 'Steal My Sunshine' by Len; Echo by Tom Petty; 'Obstacle 1' by Interpol; Vanessa Carlton's 'A Thousand Miles'
Summer: Ben Folds Five's self titled; 'Summertime' by the Fresh Prince (for obvious reasons); DMB's Under the Table and Dreaming; 'The Game of Love' by Carlos Santana and Michelle Branch
Autumn: John Mayer's Room for Squares; Wayne's Music on Plastic; For the Ride Home by Josh Kelley; Wilco's 'I Am Trying to Break Your Heart'
Winter: Save Me by the Pat McGee Band; 'Letterbox' by Wayne; 'One Big Love' by Patty Griffin; Ben Folds' Rockin' the Suburbs
Rainy days: 'Why Georgia' by John Mayer; 'Parachute' by Guster
Songs that make me sad: 'Lost Cause' by Beck; 'Superman by Five for Fighting; 'Grace Is Gone' and 'Christmas Song' by the Dave Matthews Band
Songs that make me hopeful: 'Question Everything' by 8 Stops 7; 'Good Things' by the BoDeans
Songs that pump me up: 'My Coco' by Stellastarr*, 'Runaway' by the Pat McGee Band

I don't know what the point of that was. But it's a pretty impressive list.

OUT.

yay, I feel good about myself

whoever said shopping isn't therapeutic is a damned fool. I felt like crap this morning, then I bought some clothes and DVD's and now I feel great.

Of course the flipside is that commercialism completely blows, and as Jamie would say I h8aet it dead.

Doris, take a memo...

TO: Lesbians
FROM: Me
RE: Indigo Girls
DATE: Tues 11.3.2004

It has come to my realization that the Indigo Girls aren't very good. I arrived at this judgement after taking in their latest single "Fill It Up Again" and marveling at how trite and overly philisophical the song actually is. I wondered, "how can they still be putting out records that are so piss poor?" and I came to the conclusion that lesbians are carrying this record, as well as every other one since the smash single "Galileo".

I would first like to state that I am totally in support of lesbians and that I do understand that you need role models in the entertainment sector, just like any other culture. I just think that said role models should be TALENTED. I suggest, in the music industry, that you look towards Melissa Etheridge, who is not only an accomplished songwriter but also an extraordinary vocalist and guitarist.

Also, Building Maintenance will be waxing all non-carpeted floors Friday night, so please move all personal belongings to carpeted areas or your storage lockers.

This would make Prince cry, if only he could show emotion

Ladies and gentlemen, First Avenue is no more... at least for the time being.

as the article indicates the future is murky for the First Ave., the Twin Cities' indie hotspot and site of one of the greatest musical movies ever, as club owner Allan Fingerhut shuttered it while filing bankruptcy. No, John Mayer never played there, but it is still the most hallowed venue in Minnesota. Here's to hoping that the club reopens fairly quickly.

I rocked the vote!

I certainly hope you did too, or are planning on it, otherwise you're a fool.

Just kidding.

Wait, NO I'M NOT. GET OUT AND VOTE! I honestly don't care who you cast for, as long as you just go out and do it. And get 'er done as fast as possible, because it was a relative madhouse this morning, and it's assuredly going to get worse as the day progresses. I could really use a drink. Ahha, that's right, liquor stores aren't open on election days.....
