updates

hey!

so first off, I got a couple of awesome emails regarding the post below that were decidedly negative in tone. (why the comment forms weren't used, I'll never know... that's what they're there for, folks!) sorry for the opinions, kids. but that's exactly what they are. so they will stay up.

anyhoo, it's been a little while since I did a blogpost that wasn't some lame copy/paste, copout, or mini-rant. so here is what's up:
  • the birthday was about a month ago. I turned 25. as a birthday present I received the generous addition of closet organizer space in my room which allows me to actually store my clothes in my room, instead of in a pile on the table next to the washer and dryer. the good? I no longer have to walk half dressed between my dresser and the laundry room. the bad? I realized I own entirely too much clothing for a dude. pictures will come sooner or later.
  • I have pretty much abandoned all hope of recovering any data from the harddrive that crashed on me back in December. the thing that sucks the most is losing all my digital photos. so many irreplaceable pics :( however, in the case of homeworks and my graphic and layout crap, I have come across hard copies of most of it. so I'm in the process of rebuilding my digital portfolio. whee!
  • after days weeks months of putting it off, I finally put the last part of my New Years resolution into effect: I started an actual regular exercise program last Saturday. and boy, the butterfly lifts aren't pleasant. once I get in the habit of lifting every other day, I'll throw the treadmill in the mix. that oughta be fun.
  • lastly, some changes may be in store for ES.com, as far as design and presentation are concerned. I haven't fully decided yet whether to change or not, but should something happen with the site, it won't happen immediately. if you have some feedback on the design or content, good or bad, shoot me an email or leave a comment where appropriate.
that about does it for this update. now, I have to go cut a wicked piss.

people are idiots! exhibit 27:

crappy poetry

I've stated before how much I hate the 'Starting Over' show, and the show's messageboard and its posters are prime examples. in the thread I posted, some of the shittiest umnetered verse not penned by a 12 year old Xanga user is unveiled to the world, or rather a collection of unemployed biddies who have nothing to do but wallow in self pity due to everyday events that happen to 97% of the world's population, and compulsively post tens of thousands of times on a messageboard that encourages their Dr Phil mindset.

hey everyone, my shoulder muscles hurt a lot. please put me on a TV show with a 'life coach' after which I'll set up a special place in my forum to discuss it.

not going to Iowa.

bad: grandma will be disappointed.
good: I still get the weekend off.

bad: I already packed for the weekend.
good: I don't have to worry about unpacking on Sunday night.

bad: probably will be bored to death tomorrow.
good: I won't be bored in the middle of DAMN IOWA.

I hate things.

another installment:

something that really bugs me is people who have their cellphone buttons set on 'loud'. I don't get it; what's the benefit in having keybeeps so fucking loud that people 75 feet away can hear it? turn your shit down some please. these people also tend to have loud, drawn-out personal phone conversations in public places. 'Ohmigod Sheila, I just got done washing my ass in the shower when my cat got all up in my shower and puked on my foot! I was so grossed out... hold on. Uh, could I get a Big Mac Value Meal...'

I like to stay up on the news. one of the outlets I like to use is Yahoo! because they cull most relevant stories from the big wires. unfotunately they also provide message boards for discussion of the stories, paving the way for message board trolls and irrelevant political name calling. no matter if there's ties to politics or not in the story [example], people turn it into a political debate or, worse, a 'racist rednecks v level headed normal people' debate. both are quite like watching a train wreck: you feel so horribly guilty for seeing it, but you couldn't turn away if your life depended on it.

I'm sure more stuff will come up later.

mexican food + immediate supernap = fizucked up

had my ass an awesome enchilada dish this evening. I followed this with a retreat to the telly for some 'Simpsons'. well surprise of surprises, I fell asleep while watching television. I then proceeded to have what I'm henceforth referring to as the March 2005 'Dream of the Month'. (yes, it will become a regular thing.) here is a cutscene, one of the ones I best remember:
EHREN returns from taking AUSTIN to the Science Museum. He then finds himself in the FOYER of a small house in 1950's suburbia, his persona transformed into a highschooler from that era, chatting with a female resembling Reese Witherspoon in 'Pleasantville'.

GIRL (holding wine bottle and 2 glasses): It's been a long day, Ehren. Care for a drink?
EHREN: Come on, neither of us is old enough to drink. Besides, it's late; I should get you upstairs and into bed.
GIRL (coyly): You're right. I am feeling pretty tired...

Cut to BEDROOM. The only light in the room is coming from the connecting bathroom. GIRL is sitting on her bed, drinking from the wine bottle. EHREN finally obliges and takes a glass, then turns toward the window. GIRL quickly takes off her blouse and turns back the blankets, and asks EHREN to come over.

EHREN: See, doesn't it feel good to be in bed?

GIRL takes the glass from EHREN's hand and tosses it aside, breaking it. She then takes his hand.

GIRL: I'm so cold.
EHREN: I know how to fix that.

EHREN takes the blankets in his hands, and pulls them over GIRL, making sure she is confortable.

EHREN (cheerfully): There you go! Well, I gotta go home now. I'll call you tomorrow, okay?
GIRL (sullenly): Okay...

[end]
wheee!

Hi, I'm Ehren. Welcome to my website.

I am a straight-shooter with a heart of gold and balls of steel. I coach a hard-luck peewee hockey team full of working-class misfits. My sweat is considered currency in developing nations. I once appeared nude on a Wheaties box. I operate a greasy-spoon diner on the outskirts of humanity. Also, I'm afraid of clowns and small children.
